Rocky Mountain Hope was created for cancer patients and their friends and families to simply keep hope alive. Cancer has, in one way or another, affected every single person out there. Whether you have dealt with cancer personally or someone close to you is fighting their own battle, cancer has sadly crept into the lives of all of us. The foundation was started after founder Shannon Cox’s sister-in-law, Jewely Del Duca, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the young age of 34. Jewely was denied by her insurance company a chemotherapy surgery that her oncologist thought could very well be her cure. Shannon watched the struggles that Jewely and her husband endured and learned that Jewely’s struggle was sadly, not unique. We believe that life is worth fighting for, regardless of the cost. Insurance companies do not get to play the part of God and determine when it is time for someone to pass on. If there is an opportunity to help someone fight their cancer, we’re going to help them. Though we cannot financially help every single cancer patient, we hope that this website will serve as a "home" for anyone to visit when they need reassurance and a friendly reminder that hope is always there. We are here to provide emotional support, to connect people and to empower people to help themselves. We will, in time, have a blog where people can reach out to others and find their common denominators. Our hope is to connect people who have the same sort of cancer even if they live 3,000 miles away from one another. We’d also like to connect cancer patients that may have a different diagnosis but live 20 minutes from one another and have never met. We are here to remind you that YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. Cancer patients ~ we also encourage you to send us your story and your picture and allow this site to be a place where you can reach out for support. If there is anything we can do to help you with ideas to keep hope alive and strong, let us know. We’d love to help empower you to do your own fundraisers in your community and will help you every step of the way.
